Tim Fernando "Events and probabilities between strings and records"

Research profile seminar

Research profile seminar

Events are grounded in strings up to a bounded granularity that we can systematically refine or coarsen, to cope with non-determinism, arising from forces, untold and told. Variations in granularity reveal complications to the principle of indifference (distributing weight equally), which we address through records imposing constraints, hard and soft.

(This talk is a sequel to String iconicity and granularity.)
